Crooked River Retreat is a serene prairie escape established in 2025, featuring four thoughtfully designed cottages and an expansive lodge. Nestled near the banks of the South Saskatchewan River, this retreat blends rustic charm with modern comfort, providing an ideal setting for relaxation, adventure, and community gatherings.

Cottages

Nestled along the banks of the South Saskatchewan River, our ranch perfectly blends modern comforts with rustic charm.

Each 384-square-foot cottage offers a cozy yet functional layout, with a dedicated queen bedroom and a versatile Murphy bed for additional guests. The kitchenette comes fully stocked with a refrigerator, induction cooktop, and air fryer, making it easy to prepare quick meals. Outside, guests can unwind on a private patio with a BBQ, soaking in the open prairie sky.

Inside, comfort meets convenience with a well-appointed three-piece bathroom and an electric wood stove that adds warmth on cooler evenings. Luxurious Egyptian cotton bedding ensures a restful night’s sleep.

The Lodge

For larger gatherings, the 1,200-square-foot lodge provides a spacious, adaptable venue, with 900 square feet of open space for maximum flexibility.

It accommodates up to four queen Murphy beds and features a fully stocked kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher. The lodge also offers a fully accessible washroom with a walk-in shower, along with two additional three-piece washrooms that can be accessed from outside.

Recreation

Designed to maximize river access and embrace the prairie landscape, Crooked River Retreat caters to a variety of outdoor and recreational interests.

Canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, snowshoes, cross-country skiis and sleds are not provided.

Horse-drawn carriage rides are available by request—just mention it before booking.

We welcome guests to bring their own canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards, as these are not provided on-site. Kayak lessons are available for beginner and intermediate paddlers. In winter, the retreat transforms into a snow-covered haven with snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and sledding.

Horse-drawn carriage or sleigh rides can be arranged, but must be discussed prior to booking.

After a day of adventure, guests can unwind in the on-site sauna. Beach towels are not provided, so guests are kindly asked to bring their own; all other cottage towels are supplied.

For those looking to explore beyond the retreat, a scenic 9-hole golf course, movie theatre, boutique shopping, coffee shops, and a local pool are just a 20-minute drive away. Whether seeking adventure or relaxation, Crooked River Retreat offers a seamless blend of comfort, nature, and community.

This place one of a kind. Nestled along the South Saskatchewan River, this property offers stunning panoramic views that capture the true beauty of the Canadian prairies. We were even lucky enough to see the Northern Lights while hanging out at the campfire one night of our stay. The owners, Margaret and Bryce are attentive hosts. We booked the wagon ride in advance, offering a scenic way to take in the river valley and surrounding countryside. It was totally worth it! Every aspect of the stay felt thoughtful. Crooked River would be an exceptional venue for a wedding, corporate retreat, or private event. The wide-open skies and natural charm make it a perfect place to celebrate and connect. If you’re looking for a unique Saskatchewan getaway with genuine prairie hospitality, Crooked River is a must-visit destination. We will be back!!

We took over the 4 cabins and lodge for an extended family get together this fall and had the best time at this beautiful new retreat! It had room for us to gather together, but we also had our own space if we wanted some time to ourselves. The view over the river valley was spectacular! Our host was able to arrange a horse drawn wagon ride for us one afternoon and we also enjoyed hiking and exploring the valley. We hope to be able come again during the warmer summer months so we can bring our kayaks to do some exploring on the river and find a nice sand bar to beach on for an afternoon of fun in the sun.

Crooked River Retreat is an absolute gem. The sauna was a highlight—peaceful, beautifully built, and the perfect way to unwind after exploring. The trails down to the river are stunning, with gorgeous views and a real sense of calm. The cabins were cozy and well-equipped, and everything felt thoughtfully designed. Margaret and Bryce, the owners, were incredibly welcoming and kind. They made us feel right at home and clearly care deeply about the land and the experience they offer. You can feel their love in every detail. Highly recommend for anyone looking to disconnect and recharge in nature.

Crooked River Retreat is a hidden gem. The views of the river are breathtaking, and the access to the water is perfect for relaxing or exploring. The cottages are clean, new, and incredibly cute. They’re fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, making it feel like a home away from home. Whether you're looking for a peaceful escape or a scenic adventure, this place has it all. Highly recommend!

Favorite moments are quietly sitting and reading outside in the early evening with a fire going. These are such lovely, peaceful little cabins you have created! We loved all the "extra" little touches like decent towels and coffee (I forgot to bring some!) Good luck with everything. We will be telling friends about this place!

All the geese flying onto/off the river! It was straight out of a nature documentary, could practically hear David Attenborough's voice narrating in the background. What a beautiful spot you have created! This weekend has been more than we could ever have imagined. The peace and stillness here are so refreshing, and we can't wait to come back.

Favorite moments of our stay: Trail walks. feet in the river, wildlife, unplugging, black evenings around the fire, coffee, watching the geese, reconnecting, resting and great friends. Oh, and the crib-we needed a tire breaking game! Bryce & Margaret-your heart and soul you have put into these cottages shows in every corner. Thank-you for the most amazing, MUCH needed weekend away from the craziness & day to day. We will be regular returners!
